the Dr. George Charity Car Show
A little background on the Palm Springs Cruisin’ Association.
The Palm Springs Cruisin’ Association (PSCA) is an all-volunteer non-profit* organization whose purpose is to promote camaraderie among car enthusiasts and to stage and promote charitable car events. Our main annual fund-raising event, The Dr. George Charity Car Show, benefits the Desert Cancer Foundation. It is held the second Saturday in February on the lawns at the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens – all proceeds benefit The Desert Cancer Foundation. To-date PSCA has donated over $900,000 to the Desert Cancer Foundation. Learn More
PSCA started out as a small gathering of car enthusiasts that met at the Shakey’s Pizza Parlor parking lot in Palm Springs over 25 years ago. People would get together to admire each other’s cars and swap information. It was started by two local car lovers, Loren Orcutt and Bob Hunt. Their first gathering consisted of approximately 30 cars. As the participation grew, the club moved to Cathedral City to accommodate its size and remained at that location for several years. What originally started as a small group has now grown to incorporate an average of 100 cars a month.
A monthly PSCA Cruise-In at Westfield Shopping Town, 72-840 Highway 111, Palm Desert, is open to all car enthusiasts! Held the first Saturday of each month, October thru April, 1 – 4:30 pm, on display are over 100 classic cars, muscle cars, hot rods, street rods, corvettes, customs, antiques, restored and original collectable cars and motorcycles. Viewing is free for the general public. There is a coloring contest for the kids, a raffle and 50/50 drawing, trophy presentations and activities for the whole family.
Benefits of PSCA Membership ..
As a member, you are invited to attend all meetings of the PSCA, held the Thursday prior to each Cruise In’ at various locations in the Valley. Members can display their vehicles at the monthly Cruise-In for free while non-members are charged a $10 fee to participate.
On the 3rd Tuesday night of each month at 6:00 p.m. the club meets for a social event at a valley restaurant. It’s a great time to go out for dinner & get to know your fellow members!
